Jewel Zen Den (JZD) is a Holistic Equine Retreat Sanctuary that was inspired from my own personal healing journey with horses.
To be very open with you... Horses saved me from the most horrific nightmare I wouldn't wish on anyone to go through.

JZD ( Jewel Zen Den ) was born from not only my own direct healing journey but from a desire to create a deeply healing nurturing space in nature, surrounded by horses.
A place that allowed me to be brave enough to go first, a place where I could try on feeling safe again, a place where I could deeply rest my body and escape from the mad rush and white noise of our busy, hectic, modern day world.
I had previously been searching for a healing venue three years ago when I fell deathly sick; yet at the time nothing called to my soul, and to be honest I felt deeply deflated and frustrated so I gave up in a heap of exhaustion.
Within a year, as I started to feel a little better, a little spark arose within me again, and interestingly enough it was after I had gifted myself the best present I could have ever given myself...I bought my first ever horse :-)
This was a dream I had been desiring my entire life, and it certainly was a homecoming and milestone that literally and viscerally brought me back to life, in more ways than none.
I named her Jewel because she held the universe in her eyes, was sent to me from heaven and gave me the horse power that made me fight for my life.
It honestly was a miracle that I could have never planned even if I had tried, and God knew exactly what he was doing when he sent me her.
And still to this day I can remember that little spark that kept flickering like a holy light in the background inside my heart, which led me to same question over and over again...
Well Astraya if you can't find what you want here in Wales then why don't you create it?

So that is how this little dream began....:-)
And this was the question that CHANGED EVERYTHING FOR ME, as soon as I said YES, destiny moved to meet me my courageous heart and sent me a stunning Dun Welsh C Pony called Jewel to fly by my side
She whom is and was inspiration behind it all :-)

We Need Horses More Than They Need US...
Horses often come into our lives to heal what they never broke. Yet a horse never thinks OK, I am going to come anD heal x,y,z today, they aren't conscious of healing or fixing us at all.
In-fact it's the very opposite, they are just in their element roaming around, frolicking in the grass, munching on hay, rolling around in dirt, playing with friends, and just living their best life, which is what makes them even more beautiful.
It is less about doing and more about being; it is about being in their pure presence and being reminded through their untouched stillness who we are at the core of our true original state, and it is this state of stillness where the beauty and magic lies, to witness and be witnessed by their unconditional love in it's raw form.
This is a heavenly and magical experience, and that is where the healing lies.
Not in being fixed, or uncovering trauma, or going deep into deep belief system work, although all of this has it's time and place, this about being, breathing, feeling from the heart space and remembering who you are with pure heart, pure presence, pure love.

I've always felt drawn to and fascinated by the majestic magnificence, sensitivity and intuitive intelligence of horses. Having grown up on a farm in Wales, and riding horses for most of my life, they were a big part of my identity and environment, it is how I learned to belong in the world from very young.
I have always been very aware that horses were my medicine animal, yet never in my wildest dreams would I have predicted the miraculous and otherwordly healing impact these magnificent animals would have had on my life.
My story comes with many depths and layers. I have lived quite the unconventional life. I am more of a creator than a follower, wherein my life has called me to stretch and expand through means of a calling bigger than myself many times.
