Jewel Zen Den (JZD) is a Holistic Equine Retreat Sanctuary, set in 50 acres of stunning welsh countryside; an idyllic escape away to help you rest, restore and rejuvenate the mind, body and soul.
JZD ( Jewel Zen Den ) was born from my own direct healing transformation with horses, and a burning desire to create a deeply healing, nurturing space for others, immersed in nature surrounded by the majestic medicine of horses.
This sacred healing space is designed to inspire you to be brave; imagine a place where you can try on feeling safe again, a place where you can feel HELD so you deeply rest, not just your body but your SOUL.
This is such a healing oasis that you will come away feeling like you have escaped the hustle and bustle...
I had previously been searching for a space like this, three years ago when I fell deathly sick; yet at the time I couldn't find anything, and to be honest, I sank into a deflated and frustrated heap of exhaustion, where I was forced to self-advocate and create my own unique healing protocol.
Over the course of two and a half years, I started to make progress, through the voice of God and several ancient and advanced holistic healing practices.
Yet it was amongst my prayers to reclaiming better health and strength, God said something to me that was life changing and profound, it went like this:
"Astraya ~ Go and seek the healing presence of horses, go sit with them, breathe and just be with them, trust they will heal you, because they will, and you will heal together"...
6 months after receiving this message, I met a beautiful 13 month old welsh filly Dun, whom within 0.1 seconds stole my heart and changed the trajectory of my life.
I felt like the heavens were working through her that day.... she just felt beyond mystical to me, with her ocean eyes that sparkled as deep and vast as the universe, she came with such divine timing, and as GOD intended, she became the horse power that made me fight for my life....
And that is how this little dream began...
All of the magic you see being created on here is truly because of my beautiful golden Unicorn, who gave me back my wings.
She was my WHY, whom alongside God became my comfort, confident, counsel and friend through the most excruciatingly painful times of my life.
So now that you know the back story, this isn't just a space, this is a transformational portal of healing energy, just as it has carried me out of the deepest pain. I have the deepest faith it will carry you through whatever it is you are moving through...

JZD Healing Sanctuary
Our Retreat Sanctuary is located on a private livery yard, set in 50 acres of breathtaking welsh countryside; surrounded by majestic emerald valleys and enchanting rolling hills, making it the perfect escape away to switch off and relax, breathe in the healing energy of the horses whilst being totally immersed in mother nature.
The retreat property itself is situated directly across from the stables, so you have the wonderful view of all the horses directly from your yoga mat, which amplifies the sacredness and uniqueness of this healing space.
The actual building itself was originally a stable barn, which was then later converted into an old farmhouse, which is what gives it a natural, rustic charm and authentic earthy ambience.
The entire house features stunning wood beams, wooden paneling, brick walls and quaint quirky lighting fixings all which add to it's one and only farmhouse originality.
To summarise the entire space gives off such a cozy healing vibe the moment you walk through the door, the energy is quite palpable and it hits you almost instantly, hence why we named it 'Jewel Zen Den'.

We Need Horses More Than They Need US...
Horses often come into our lives to heal what they never broke. Yet a horse never consciously comes into our lives to fix us, In-fact it's the very opposite, they are just being themselves, frolicking in the grass, munching on hay, rolling around in dirt, galloping around with their friends, and just living their best life, which is what makes them even more beautiful.
It is less about doing and more about being; just being in their pure presence is to be reminded through their unconditional love who we are at our core, our true original unaltered state, beyond the judgement, the ego, all the labels and roles.
It is in this state of stillness where the beauty and magic lies: to witness and be witnessed by their unconditional love in it's raw form is one of if not the most heavenly and magical experiences; and somehow just by being in their presence armours are relinquished and defensive fortresses are dissolved.
It's quite other worldly to be honest how these majestic beautiful beings truly are master healers without doing anything at all.
So rather than going to a doctor to be fixed, or a counselor to uncover trauma, or doing deep belief system work, although all of this has it's time and place...horses show us another way.
Horses teach us about being, they are mirrors and they remind us how to truly feel again, they guide us right into our heart space and help us remember that with a pure heart, and pure presence we will always be guided home.
This is the law of unconditional love, we can never get lost in unconditional love.
And they teach us this through the art of simplicity and stillness in such a sacred way.
It is honestly beyond touching and moving, so much so that once you have been opened soulfully in this way, you will never go back to the way things were; horses tend to imprint a magnetic transformative depth on the ones they open.

I've always felt drawn to and fascinated by the majestic magnificence, sensitivity and intuitive intelligence of horses. Having grown up on a farm in Wales, and riding horses for most of my life, they were a big part of my identity and environment, it is how I learned to belong in the world from very young.
I have always been very aware that horses were my medicine animal, yet never in my wildest dreams would I have predicted the miraculous and otherwordly healing impact these magnificent animals would have had on my life.
My story comes with many depths and layers. I have lived quite the unconventional life. I am more of a creator than a follower, wherein my life has called me to stretch and expand through means of a calling bigger than myself many times.
